HM Courts & Tribunals Service -Benefits

Benefits

We’re working to make justice better for everyone – not only for the people who use the courts and tribunals system every day, but also for everyone who works with us. That’s why we offer a range of extensive rewards, benefits and development opportunities.

Pay and non-pay benefits

Our aim is to support the professional and personal wellbeing of everyone at HMCTS. As well as a competitive salary, you’ll receive a number of non-pay benefits as part of the Civil Service, such as generous annual leave, contributory pension, and staff bonus and recognition schemes.

Pension

Your pension is a valuable part of your total reward package, and you’ll be given the chance to join one of the following when you join: Alpha – a career average pension scheme (defined benefit), with an annual accrual rate of 2.32% and an employer contribution rate of up to 24.5% depending on your pensionable salary. Employee contributions are also based upon your salary. Contribution rates can be found here. Partnership – a personal pension scheme. You do not have to make any payments to have a partnership pension account because we will make contributions regardless. If you do choose to contribute, we will match your contributions up to a further 3% of pensionable salary. The benefits with this type of pension depend on contributions and the growth of the pension fund.

Life assurance

Your pension will continue to provide valuable benefits for you and your family if you are too ill to continue to work, or die before you retire.

Learning and development

From induction to ongoing learning and development, everyone in HMCTS is encouraged to develop their skills and capabilities.

Personal Impact and Development (PID) scheme

Our PID scheme takes an integrated approach to talent and performance for staff in roles at bands A to F. On the scheme, you and your team leader will work together to develop you to help achieve your career aspirations.

Reward and recognition

We have a reward and recognition scheme which awards vouchers up to £100 or cash bonuses up to £2500 gross per annum for high individual and team performance.
