HMCTS is an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). We are responsible for the adminstration of criminal, civil and family courts and tribunals in England and Wales and non-devolved tribunals in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Our services affect thousands of people every day. Our goal is for people to access justice through simple, easy-to-use services in a timely manner.
Our Values
All the work we do at HMCTS is underpinned by our values, which are shared across the whole Ministry of Justice family.
These values bind us together. They set a common standard for the way we behave and how we interact with one another and the people we serve.

Our Vision
A courts and tribunal system that is just, proportionate and accessible.
Humanity
We treat others as we would like to be treated. We value everyone, supporting and encouraging them to be the best they can be.
Openness
We innovate, share, and learn. We are courageous and curious, relentlessly pursuing ideas to improve the services we offer.
Purpose
Justice matters. We are proud to make a difference for the public we serve.
Together
We listen, collaborate and contribute, acting together for our common purpose.

Our People Promise
The work we do at HMCTS makes a real difference. We’ve built this into an agreement with everyone who works here. We call it Our People promise.
That means if you make a real difference to people’s lives
we promise to make a real difference to yours.
Our Good Day at Work
Underneath our values sits the HMCTS Good Day at Work themes. Your experience of work is measured against these themes to facilitate an environment that allows everyone to thrive.
