As a Crown Court clerk, you will play a vital role in the delivery of justice. You will support the judiciary, manage courtroom proceedings and be responsible for keeping the hearings running smoothly and on time.

An excellent communicator, you’ll be comfortable with public speaking, reading the scripts required in court, thinking on your feet and reaching decisions based on sound judgment to help deliver justice.
The ability to adapt quickly to new challenges. multi-task, being highly emotionally resilient and having exceptional listening skills is also important, as you’ll be taking verdicts, conducting arraignments, producing court orders and recording hearing outcomes accurately. You’ll need to be impartial, non-judgemental and empathetic to understand and be sensitive to the issues that the people we serve are dealing with.
You’ll convene with the Judge and court usher ahead of the court proceedings. You’ll be at the forefront before court commences, answering any queries that come your way, able to build professional rapport with Legal Professionals and partner agencies. Outside the courtroom, you’ll need to master time management when it comes to critical documentation and be willing to learn and adapt to the developing, sometimes unique, technology.
